Tension gripped Anguwan Rukuba in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State following a fatal shooting on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
It was reported that unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire, killing an unspecified number of local youths.
A resident, who spoke to Channels Television anonymously, confirmed that the attack took place near the Anguwan Rukuba junction in the evening.
“The attackers just rode past and started shooting sporadically. People were running in different directions,” the source stated.

In response to the killings, aggrieved youths reportedly blocked major roads in the area, sparking concerns of further unrest.
As of the time of the report, both Commissioner of Police Bassey Ewah and the Police Public Relations Officer had not yet addressed inquiries for official confirmation.
This incident follows a devastating ambush just weeks ago in the Kanam Local Government Area, where at least 20 security personnel and vigilantes were killed.
The Kanam Development Association (KADA), in a statement by Secretary ND Shehu Kanam and Chairman Garba G. Aliyu, noted that the fallen included 12 security personnel—among them two senior military officers—and eight vigilantes.
According to KADA, the patrol team was ambushed by hundreds of heavily armed bandits at approximately 2:00 PM on a Friday while traveling between the communities of Garga, Kyaram, and Gyambau.
The association described the loss as “deeply painful and unacceptable,” noting the operatives died defending areas that have faced years of violence.
Following that ambush, bandits reportedly invaded the Kyaram community to loot property and rustle cattle.
KADA warned that such violence is a persistent threat, stating that these border communities have endured attacks, kidnappings, and cattle rustling for “the past three to four years.”
