The Emeritus Archbishop of Benin City Archdiocese, Archbishop Patrick Ebosele Ekpu, has passed away at the age of 92 after a brief illness on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 7:09 pm.
This was announced by Very Rev. Fr. Michael Oyanoafoh on behalf of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin in a statement made available to journalists in Benin on Wednesday.

Very Rev. Fr. Oyanoafoh also mentioned that details of the funeral arrangements would be announced later and urged priests, religious members, and lay faithful of the Catholic archdiocese to remember Archbishop Ekpu in their prayers.
“May he rest in peace, and may the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen,” he added.
