An unidentified man reportedly jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on Wednesday after abandoning his vehicle on a bridge.
A tragic outcome was narrowly avoided thanks to the swift intervention of local fishermen, who pulled him from the water.
Eyewitnesses noted that the rescue was the only thing that prevented a certain fatality.
The incident gained social media attention after Isaac Fayose posted a video of the rescue on Instagram, expressing deep concern over the situation.
In his post, he issued a plea to the public:“Please, check on your family and friends. This just happened today. Who knows what went wrong,” he wrote.
As of now, the motives behind the man’s actions remain a mystery.
Official word from the authorities is still pending, as the Lagos State Police Command has yet to verify the details of the event.
