Kimberly Daniels, a Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives representing District 14, has accused Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, of attempting to bribe a U.S. official in order to influence the narrative surrounding a report by the United World Congress of Diplomats (UN-WCD).
The allegation was made in a video she shared on her official Facebook page on Monday, which has since gone viral.
According to Daniels, the alleged move was aimed at downplaying the UN-WCD report that highlighted the killing of Christians in Nigeria and reportedly implicated Matawalle.
Insisting that she would not be silenced, Daniels said, “A US elected official was offered money by Nigeria’s minister of state defense, Bello Matawalle, to change the narrative of the UN-WCD Christian genocide in Nigeria report.”
She also declared that no amount of pressure would force her to back down from speaking out against the killings of Christians in Nigeria.
Daniels, who also serves as chairperson of the UN-WCD, had earlier urged President Bola Tinubu to remove Matawalle from office, citing alleged involvement in killings across Plateau, Benue, Kaduna, and other parts of the country.
Matawalle has yet to officially respond to the allegations.
