Malami has been facing a legal battle from the FG.
The Federal Government’s case against former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami primarily centers on charges of money laundering involving approximately ₦8.7 billion, alongside the unlawful possession of firearms and live ammunition.
While the government recently dropped initial allegations of terrorism financing, the prosecution continues to pursue the interim forfeiture of 57 properties linked to Malami, which are alleged to be proceeds of crime acquired through a conspiracy with his son and a business associate.
Malami has pleaded not guilty to all counts, asserting that his wealth was lawfully acquired and duly reported to the Code of Conduct Bureau, as the legal proceedings continue under high-level federal oversight.
