2027: Shettima Picks APC Senate Nomination Form

Yerima Shettima has officially entered the race for the Kaduna Central senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections by picking up the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.

His associates, Danjuma Paul and Barrister Onus Eugene, collected the documents on his behalf on Tuesday as political momentum builds throughout the state.

While speaking with journalists after the exercise, Shettima explained that obtaining the forms was intended to “dispel doubts about his seriousness to contest,” highlighting that his campaign is fueled by a commitment to offer effective, people-focused representation.

This follows a recent event where he led a massive group of supporters to the Kaduna State party leadership to formally declare his candidacy.

The aspirant confirmed his preparedenss for the party primaries and brushed off rumors regarding a potential consensus candidate.

He maintained that Kaduna Central is in need of credible, high-quality leadership, asserting that he has the “integrity, capacity, and broad acceptance to serve effectively.”

As the former President-General of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) and convener of the Northern Stakeholders Consultative Initiative (NSCI), Shettima noted that his long history of youth advocacy has built strong grassroots ties and a deep understanding of the voters’ needs.

Supporting this view, Shehu Sani Sado, President of the Capacity Movement, labeled Shettima a formidable candidate, stating that the current political climate is in his favor and identifying him as “one of the key figures to watch in the Kaduna Central senatorial contest.”
