Osun APC Chairman Loses Wife

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed its condolences to the state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, following the sudden passing of his wife, Fatimah Lawal.

The party confirmed the news in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, on Saturday, revealing that she died in Ile-Ife on Friday after a short illness at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex.

The party’s official statement noted that “her demise is a painful and irreparable loss, not only to the immediate Lawal family but also to the entire APC family in Osun State and beyond.”

Describing her as a virtuous woman and a devoted Muslim who served as a pillar of support for her husband, the party emphasized that she lived a life characterized by humility and kindness.

Sharing details of the funeral, the statement mentioned that “a family source disclosed that, in accordance with Islamic rites, her remains would be buried on Saturday, May 2, 2026, by 12 noon at Olasode, Ile-Ife.”

The party also offered prayers, stating, “May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings, grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus, and give the family she left behind the fortitude to bear this painful and irreparable loss.”

In a similar vein, the Governorship Election Campaign Council for Bola Oyebamiji, the APC candidate for the upcoming August 15, 2026 election, commiserated with the chairman.

Through a statement from the council’s Director-General, Wole Oke, the group described the death as shocking and tragic.

Oke admitted the news was hard to process initially, calling it “one death too many,” and noted that the loss would undoubtedly be traumatic for the widower.

He encouraged the chairman to find strength during this time, saying, “I appeal to Sooko Lawal to take the death of his wife philosophically, as death is an inevitable end for all mortals, without clear knowledge of when, where or how each individual’s journey will end.”
