Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has debunked rumors suggesting he plans to switch allegiance to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) following Peter Obi’s recent departure from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In an official statement released on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, the reports were labeled as “FAKE NEWS.”
Shaibu explicitly denied any claims that Atiku had participated in private discussions regarding a defection.
He emphasized that Atiku is still fully dedicated to the ADC’s goals, stating that the former Vice President “remains committed to the ADC and its mission of rescuing Nigeria, and there will be no distraction to it.”
The statement read, “This is FAKE NEWS. No defection. No secret talks. No shadowy meetings. No political theatrics. Just another clumsy, recycled falsehood manufactured to distract Nigerians from the grinding realities of hardship, insecurity, and a floundering economy. But Nigerians are wiser now. You cannot bury the truth beneath a mountain of propaganda.
