The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), along with other education stakeholders, has announced the official deadlines for the conclusion of the 2026/2027 admission exercise for tertiary institutions nationwide.
The decision was reached during the 2026 JAMB Annual Policy Meeting on Admissions held in Abuja on Monday.
According to the new resolutions, all public universities must finalize their admission processes by October 31, 2026, while private universities have until November 30, 2026. Polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education are required to round off their exercises by December 31, 2026.

The board emphasized that all institutions must strictly adhere to this timeline. “All institutions are to conduct their 2026 admission exercise within the approved schedule,” the board stated.
JAMB warned that any institution failing to meet these deadlines would lose access to candidates on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) platform. “At the expiration of the period, any institution that failed to conduct its admission will no longer have the candidates on its platform on CAPS,” the board added.
Furthermore, a four-week grace period has been established for candidates to accept admission offers once they have been approved by their respective institutions.
“There will be a grace period of four weeks within which all approved admissions must be accepted by the candidates,” JAMB noted.

Candidates were cautioned that ignoring this window could lead to severe consequences.
“Failure to do so will lead to such admissions being deleted, based on the request from the institutions, and the candidates will be placed under the ‘refusal to accept category’ punishable by ineligibility to be admitted again,” the board warned.
The meeting, which included Vice-Chancellors and Rectors, aimed to streamline the admission process and ensure uniform timelines across the education sector.
