Ahmad Lawan, the President of the 9th Senate, has become the consensus candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Yobe North Senatorial District for the 2027 general elections.
His Media Adviser, Ezrel Tabiowo, released a statement on Monday in Abuja where Lawan thanked the national and state leadership of the party, alongside the stakeholders who backed his emergence.
Among those he appreciated were the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, and the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam.
The statement noted that stakeholders within Yobe North gave Lawan their endorsement after the national leadership of the APC cleared him, which set the stage for his consensus selection.
Lawan pointed out that Nigeria is going through various reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly regarding economic policies, the development of infrastructure, and social investment initiatives.
He commended the government’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” pointing to programs like student loans, consumer credit systems, and agricultural adjustments designed to upgrade livelihoods.
He explained that heading back to the Senate would give him the opportunity to back legislative policies capable of driving further development to Yobe North and the entire North-East zone.
Additionally, Lawan highlighted his plans to encourage involvement in the digital economy, advance skills development for the youth, and boost commercial agriculture if voted in come 2027.
He urged for peaceful campaigns centered around real issues and promised his constituents that development would continue under the APC-led government.
