The Office of former President Goodluck Jonathan has officially dissociated itself from a trending Instagram profile operating with the handle @goodluck_ebelejonathan, labeling it a complete fake and a fraudulent case of identity theft.
In a public disclaimer released on Friday, the former president’s media aide, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, explicitly stated that the ex-leader does not run, manage, or maintain any personal presence on the Instagram application.
According to Eze, the handle has continuously modified its name and appearance over time to deceive unsuspecting social media users.

“May the public take note that the account represents itself as a fan page at times and impersonates the former president most of the time,” Eze revealed.
Expressing concern over the platform’s response to the fraudulent account, the media aide noted that the operators have been exploiting loopholes on the application to remain undetected.
“The username has been changed 13 times and counting and we hope that Meta does the needful in due time,” he said.
He further cautioned members of the public to stay alert, clarifying that the handle deliberately flips between claiming to be a fan-led tribute space and outrightly posing as the former president to trick people online.
