The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a reminder to all Nigerians traveling to the U.S., emphasizing the importance of strictly complying with immigration laws and the specific conditions attached to their visas.
In a statement posted on its official X page on Monday, the mission advised those currently studying, working, or visiting the United States to prioritize visa compliance to safeguard their ability to travel in the future.
“Staying compliant with U.S. immigration laws isn’t just the right thing to do – it protects your future and keeps opportunities open for Nigerian travelers,” the mission stated.
The U.S. government urged travelers to adhere to the duration of stay granted upon entry and to ensure their travel documents remain valid throughout their time in the country.
“Whether you’re studying, working, or visiting the United States, always honor the terms of your visa,” the mission advised.
Providing further guidance on maintaining good standing, the mission added: “Follow the rules. Stay only for as long as you are authorized. Keep your documents updated. Make choices that safeguard your dreams.”
The mission emphasized that following these regulations is mutually beneficial, noting, “When you respect the process, everyone wins.”
This latest reminder follows increased scrutiny of visa compliance and ongoing efforts by the U.S. to ensure foreign nationals adhere to the terms of their authorized stay.
