Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the controversial “Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council” (PFIPC), has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force in Osun State.
His apprehension occurred on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, just hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
The arrest was executed by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) from Abuja. Abiodun Ojelabi, the spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, confirmed the development, noting that Adeyemi was located at a hideout in the state.
A video of the operation shows security operatives surrounding the suspect, who appeared visibly concerned as he was taken into custody.
Adeyemi is currently facing an eight-count charge at the Federal High Court in Abuja, involving allegations of:

Conspiracy and Forgery: He is accused of forging various official government documents, including presidential appointment letters, to grant his “agency” an appearance of legitimacy.

Impersonation: He allegedly presented himself as a presidential appointee and the Director-General of the PFIPC, an organization the Federal Government has formally disowned and described as non-existent.
The case has drawn significant public attention, particularly after reports surfaced that the purported agency had been linked to a ₦1.3 billion allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act.
Prior to his arrest, Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court had issued a bench warrant following Adeyemi’s repeated failure to appear for his arraignment.
While Adeyemi’s legal counsel had argued that his client was avoiding the court due to threats to his life, the judge dismissed this excuse, ordering security agencies to produce him for trial.
Adeyemi’s arrest follows a period of intense police activity, which included multiple visits by officers to his parents’ home in Ogbomoso and the controversial arrest of his father earlier in the week—a move that drew widespread criticism from legal experts, including Femi Falana (SAN), who denounced the practice of “substituted arrest”.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has since directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the entire PFIPC scandal, including how such a fictitious body was able to acquire an appearance of official recognition.
