The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially commenced the public display of personal particulars and academic credentials submitted by presidential candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The statutory exercise features documents submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside his running mate, Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The public display of Form EC9 is a mandatory statutory requirement under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026, which obligates INEC to publish candidates’ particulars within 21 days of receipt.
The documents are currently displayed at INEC offices across all 36 states and local government areas nationwide. Under the Electoral Act, members of the public are legally empowered to inspect the records, apply for certified true copies, and seek legal redress in court if any false declarations or document falsifications are identified.
According to INEC’s revised schedule, official campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections are set to commence on August 19, 2026.
