Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has submitted his full academic history—spanning from his 1954 primary school certificate to a Master’s degree obtained in 2020—to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The nomination papers were published on Saturday, August 1, 2026, by the electoral body in accordance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026, opening up candidates’ filings for statutory public scrutiny.

  • Public Service & Employment: Outlined 20 years of service in the Nigerian Customs Service from 1969 to 1989, which ended in voluntary retirement. He also listed his tenure at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he served as Vice President from 1999 to 2007 until his two terms elapsed.

  • Affidavit Declaration: Formally declared under oath that he has never been dismissed from public service.

The publication of candidate credentials allows members of the public to inspect affidavits and supporting documentation:
