Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared Friday, August 14, a work-free day for public servants in the state to enable them to participate in Saturday’s governorship election.
The directive was detailed through an official circular released by Elder Ayanleye Aina, who serves as the Head of Service.
According to the document, the measure is designed to give employees enough time to travel if needed and properly prepare to cast their ballots during the exercise.
The announcement applies to all categories of civil servants, with the sole exception of personnel providing essential and emergency services.
Meanwhile, Adeleke has encouraged state employees, along with their families and associates, to turn out in large numbers and safeguard their ballots.
The governor shared this appeal in a pre-election address to the workforce, expressing appreciation to labor leaders and employees for backing his government.
He also characterized the partnership between his administration and workers as advantageous to both sides.
Through a press release issued by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, his spokesperson, Adeleke called upon public sector employees to rally informal workers, craftspeople, and professional associations to take part in the voting process.
“The time for action has come. As formal workers at state establishments, I task you to mobilise informal workers, artisans and professional bodies. We must remain strong in defence of our constitutional rights to vote and be voted for,” he said.
Adeleke encouraged personnel to safeguard the achievements accomplished by his administration throughout the past three and a half years.
“Ours is a workers-friendly government which has delivered across board to labour and Osun people. We cannot and must not allow a return to dark days,” he added.
