Celebrations broke out on Saturday following the victory of Osun State Governor and Accord Party standard-bearer Ademola Adeleke at his home polling unit in the ongoing gubernatorial contest.
Official counts confirmed that Adeleke secured 421 votes at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, situated within the Abogunde Compound of Ede North Local Government Area, prompting loud cheers from enthusiastic supporters who gathered at the venue.
As sorting and collation got underway across the state, key contenders expressed strong optimism regarding their electoral prospects. Governor Adeleke had earlier voiced confidence in his reelection chances after casting his ballot at the Sagba Abogunde location in Ede North.
Similarly, the All Progressives Congress flagbearer, Bola Oyebamiji, predicted success after voting at Ward 09, Unit 011 in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, while engaging with journalists.
Meanwhile, the electoral process also witnessed friction as the African Democratic Congress gubernatorial candidate, Najeem Salaam, voiced formal complaints regarding the alleged exclusion and non-recognition of his party representatives across several voting centers during Saturday’s exercise.
