The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially handed over the Certificate of Return to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, cementing his triumph in the August 15 governorship election.

Olalekan Badmus, the Special Assistant on Digital Media to the Governor, broke the news via a statement on X on Wednesday, noting, “Governor Ademola Adeleke receives Certificate of Return from @inecnigeria as the winner of August 15th, 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun.

This formal issuance legally solidifies Adeleke’s mandate to pilot the affairs of the state for a second term.

The presentation follows his declaration as the winner on Sunday, after securing victories across 19 out of the 30 local government areas during the weekend poll.

Contesting under the platform of the Accord party, Adeleke outperformed his closest competitor, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who claimed victory in the remaining 11 local government areas.

Reacting to the milestone during the ceremony, a jubilant Adeleke sang and danced while assuring residents that he will not let them down, vowing to build upon his past achievements and address previous missteps.
