The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) announced on Friday that it has uncovered another fraudulent agency operating out of the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

According to the anti-graft agency, the fake body was identified as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, which had been illegally assigned office space within the SGF’s premises.

The promoter of the scheme was identified as Prince George Buchi Nwabueze, who allegedly operated under multiple aliases, including George Nathan, George Nathan Nwabueze, Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze, Prince Geroge Buchi Nwabueze, and George Nwabueze.

Chairman of the ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, revealed these findings while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday.

He stated, “In relation to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and procedural weaknesses in the public service, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered another fake agency/office operating under the name: National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, which had been illegally allocated office space within the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.”

Aliyu added, “The Promoter George Buchi Nwabueze was discovered to also operate under four other variations of his name: George Nathan, George Nathan Nwabueze, Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze, Prince Geroge Buchi Nwabueze and George Nwabueze.”

The ICPC chairman confirmed that he had briefed President Bola Tinubu extensively on the findings and the ongoing investigations involving the SGF’s office.

Following the briefing, President Tinubu ordered immediate enforcement actions.

Aliyu stated, “Accordingly, Mr. President has directed as follows: The immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze. The immediate suspension of the following Permanent Secretaries: M.S Danjuma, Engr Nadungu Gagare, Richard P. Pheelangwah.”

The ICPC chief noted that investigators are continuing their work under the President’s directives to uncover the full extent of the procedural vulnerabilities that enabled the operation.
