Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, rtd, has confirmed his active participation in the upcoming 2027 presidential bid of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, following his recent naming as Secretary I for the party’s campaign body.

Through an official media release distributed on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the retired general expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu along with the national leadership of the APC for placing such high trust in him.

Musa characterized the political assignment as an elevated duty to the nation, reassuring party executives, political stakeholders, and grassroots supporters that he would tackle the administrative duties with absolute focus and professionalism.

At the same time, the defence chief maintained that his primary, constitutional mandate remains firmly anchored on preserving the nation’s territorial boundaries and ensuring the safety of all citizens.

“National security remains our highest imperative.

“The ongoing operations, strategic reforms, and inter-agency collaborations across the defence sector will continue unabated with increased vigour.

“Our resolve to uphold the mandate of the Ministry of Defence, protect our people, and drive Mr. President’s vision for a safe and prosperous Nigeria remains firm and unshakeable,” the minister stated.

In addition to accepting the role, Musa urged party faithful and citizens across the country to rally behind the current administration, voicing strong optimism that the ruling party will secure electoral victory while continuing to advance security and governance nationwide.
