Sam Amadi, the Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, has explained why Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, will secure victory against President Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 general elections.

During an interview with Symfoni TV, Amadi stated that the current political terrain does not secure a guaranteed win for either Tinubu or Atiku.

He mentioned that President Tinubu entered the 2023 race with the reputation of having transformed Lagos State despite a restricted campaign.

According to him, Nigerian youths are strongly backing the former governor of Anambra State.

Amadi also tied his prediction to the massive backing Obi received during the previous election cycle, pointing out that an uncompromised electoral process would have made Obi the president today.

“There is this sense that Nigeria need something new, and the restiveness and disruption during the 2020 EndSARS incident is a milestone for Obi,” Amadi stated.

“In the last election, Peter Obi had almost more than half of the electorate on his side. There were clear indications that he won in Rivers, Plateau and some Northern states but INEC didn’t declare him winner,” he added.
