Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara was a guest on Sunday to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, who leads the Rainbow Coalition in the South-South state.
Fubara was accompanied by elder statesman Dr. Sam Sam Jaja during the high-level visit to his immediate predecessor’s private residence in Port Harcourt.
The governor and his delegation were received upon arrival by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda, alongside the Chairman of the Reconciliation Committee, Senator Magnus Abe.
Although no official joint communique was issued after the meeting, political insiders revealed that discussions centered on resolving bottlenecks surrounding the state’s fragile peace arrangement.
Reports indicate that the governor’s initial hesitation to accept specific terms put forward by the reconciliation committee had caused a temporary setback in peace negotiations.
Sources noted that the ongoing stalemate directly contributed to the Rivers State House of Assembly’s delay in considering and passing the 2026 Appropriation Bill, nearly two months after it was formally presented by the governor.
The FCT Minister’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, confirmed the meeting through a statement posted on his official Facebook page.
“Fubara, who was accompanied by Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, was received by the APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda and Senator Magnus Abe,” Olayinka stated.
