Borno Commissioner Threatens To Cut Off Fingers Of Those Who Vote Against APC

Sainna Buba, the Borno State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, has triggered severe public backlash after threatening political rivals with physical violence and government exclusion if they do not vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The commissioner delivered the provocative address during a campaign rally organized by the Tinubu City Boy Movement, a political grassroots outfit mobilizing support for President Bola Tinubu’s government and his prospective 2027 second-term ambition.

Speaking to the crowd, Buba issued aggressive warnings to critics and opposition members, resorting to explicit violence to deter political disagreement.

“Whoever shows us a finger, we are ready to cut off his fingers,” Buba stated, adding, “We are now playing politics. Whoever shows us a finger, we will show him a finger… Whoever dares to show us a finger again, we will break his finger.”

Beyond physical threats, Buba detailed a system of extreme political patronage, openly declaring that public resources and governance dividends would be weaponized against citizens who fail to support the APC.

“The government is our government. Those who follow us will enjoy the honey; if you refuse, then you will be flogged,” he said.

His hostile pronouncements have provoked intense outrage among civil rights advocates and political stakeholders, stirring concerns over freedom of expression, democratic values, and political tolerance across Borno State.

Political analysts emphasized that such hostile utterances from an active member of the state executive cabinet pose a direct threat to peace and erode fundamental democratic institutions.

With momentum building early toward the 2027 general elections across political coalitions, this controversy underscores rising political hostilities across regional strongholds.

As of publication time, Buba has not clarified if his statements were symbolic political posturing or intended literally.

Similarly, the Borno State Government has yet to issue any public statement or official reaction regarding the commissioner’s remarks.

This incident comes barely five days after Danjuma Shekwolo, the Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), instructed residents to either support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 or relocate from the municipality.
