Suspected kidnappers have shot dead Alhaji Garba Buba, the ward chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rantan, located within Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State.
The armed assailants stormed the Rantan community late Sunday night, opening fire indiscriminately on local residents and killing another community member, identified as Sulaiman Zunduma.
A resident of the area, Hamza Isah Rantan, verified the tragedy through a social media post on Monday, mourning the victims and recounting how the gunmen launched their sudden night raid.
He revealed that Buba sustained severe gunshot wounds during the assault and subsequently succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical care at a hospital.
He further noted that the second victim, Zunduma, died instantly on the scene from gunshot injuries.

“On Sunday night kidnappers attacked our town, Rantan, where they shot Alhaji Garab Buha, the APC ward chairman in Rantan, who later died in a hospital. They also killed another resident, Sulaiman Zunduma.
“We pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcoming and heals the injured.”
The Kano State Police Command has not yet released an official statement regarding the violent raid or ongoing tactical efforts to track down the fleeing suspects.
This fatal invasion comes barely hours after security operatives secured the rescue of the Sarkin Noman of Kano State, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa, who had been abducted by gunmen in Chiromawa community, Garun Malam Local Government Area.
Five other residents were reportedly shot and injured during that earlier weekend assault, which took place at approximately 11:00 PM on Saturday.
