Wike Names Governors Working Against Him

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has publicly accused Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of actively working against his political interests, alleging both leaders failed to reciprocate past political backing.

Speaking during a media chat in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Wednesday, Wike asserted that the Kwara State Governor has been at the forefront of a coordinated political campaign against him, noting that he directly confronted him over the issue.

“Take for example, Kwara, he has been the one championing this campaign against me everywhere. Yes, I have confronted him too. I don’t talk about what I cannot defend,” Wike stated.

He explained that the Kwara governor accused him of supporting rival political candidates within his state, arguing that the governor should instead appreciate his effort in providing an alternative platform for aggrieved APC chieftains within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rather than seeing them join anti-Tinubu coalitions.

The minister also highlighted his strained political relationship with Governor Uzodinma, recalling that the Imo chief executive previously withheld support during critical moments despite past gestures.

“Governor Hope, he knows the support I give to him,” Wike noted.

Wike emphasized that despite these internal friction points, his primary political focus remains securing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, stressing that personal disagreements with state governors will not derail his objectives.

He maintained that his political moves have always been open and challenged critics alleging he works against APC leaders to show what backing they provided during his own political trials.

“Any Nigerian who knows me know that I have never hidden my intention,” he added.
