The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially published the comprehensive roster of presidential contenders and their running mates competing in the upcoming January 2027 general elections.
Endorsed by the Secretary to the Commission, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, the document was released on Saturday in Abuja and confirms candidate sponsorship across 18 registered political parties.
A breakdown of the presidential field reveals 16 male flagbearers and two female contenders entering the race.
Prominent male aspirants on the ballot include incumbent President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar representing the African Democratic Congress, Peter Gregory Obi under the Nigerian Democratic Congress banner, Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party, and Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde running on the Allied Peoples Movement platform.
The male contest further features Donald Duke of the People’s Redemption Party, Sunday Chibuzo Okereke representing the Labour Party, Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress, Sandy Ojang Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party, Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje of the Action Alliance, and Aliyu Abbas-Bin of the Action Democratic Party.
Completing the male slate are Kabiru Yusuf of the Allied Peoples Party, Sunday Adenuga representing the Boot Party, Moses Olusoji Adebisi running under the Democratic Leadership Alliance, Daniel Daberechukwu Nwanyanwu of the Zenith Labour Party, and Peter Ada Agada of the Young Progressive Party.
The two female presidential candidates breaking into the top ticket are Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori of the National Democratic Party and Nkem Esther Okereke representing the National Rescue Movement.
For the vice-presidential slot, the electoral body confirmed 14 male and four female running mates.
The female vice-presidential contenders include Peace Egobia Ofordile of the Allied Peoples Party, Nafisat Usaku Abubakar representing the Democratic Leadership Alliance, Hajja Bintu Konto of the Labour Party, and Patience Ndidi Key of the Young Progressive Party.
