Sultan Of Sokoto Loses Stepmother

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has paid a condolence visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, following the passing of his stepmother, Hajiya Nana Asma’u, who died on Tuesday at the age of 100.

During his visit to the Sultan’s palace in Sokoto, Governor Aliyu described her passing as a significant loss to the royal family, the state, and the nation at large.

The governor emphasized that Nana Asma’u fulfilled a vital motherly role within the royal household, noting that “The passing of Nana Asma’u was indeed one death too many” and that her departure leaves a void that will be difficult to bridge.

He encouraged the Sultan and the entire bereaved family to take solace in the will of Almighty Allah, offering prayers for the forgiveness of her shortcomings and her entry into paradise.

In response, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar expressed gratitude to Governor Aliyu for his visit and prayerful support, stating, “We pray that you will also live long to continue to serve humanity.”

Governor Aliyu was accompanied on the visit by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, state APC Chairman Haruna Adiya, members of the state legislature, commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants, and other political associates. Special prayers were led by Malam Bashiru Gidan Kanawa for the repose of the deceased.

Additionally, the governor extended his condolence tour to other bereaved households across the Sokoto metropolis. Among those visited were the families of Abdullahi Kafinta of Rungumi, who died at 80; Malam Abdullah Na Hali, 85; and late Malama Aminatu Shehu of Tudun Wada, who passed away at age 117, leaving behind 11 children.

Governor Aliyu also paid respects to the families of Aisha Umar, 87; Abubakar Abdulraheem; Alhaji Garba Shugaba, 85; Ahmad Mode of Gagi; and the late Aliyu Musa Mana of Mana, with prayers offered at each stop for the peaceful repose of the departed.
