The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has firmly dismissed circulating rumors that the party plans to step down or withdraw its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in favor of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reaffirming the party’s unwavering resolve, Kwankwaso emphasized that the NDC presidential ticket remains fully active, independent, and positioned for complete victory at the polls.
In an official statement published on his verified Facebook page, Kwankwaso called out the ADC Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC), accusing the opposition camp of orchestrating calculated attacks against Peter Obi and the NDC leadership rather than presenting a compelling vision to the Nigerian electorate.
We will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party. We remain confident in our capacity, competence, and readiness to lead Nigeria,
Kwankwaso stated, dismissing rumors suggesting that the NDC was aligning with either the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or the ADC coalition.
Kwankwaso warned supporters and voters to remain vigilant against deceptive narrative campaigns and last-minute misinformation suggesting any alliance or concession.
He further advised the ADC campaign hierarchy to address allegations brought against its presidential candidate by Vice President Kashim Shettima instead of dissipating energy on the NDC’s political trajectory.
Describing the Obi-Kwankwaso joint ticket as the OK ticket,
the former Kano State governor reiterated that the platform is neither working on behalf of the ruling APC nor acting as an auxiliary tool for rival political blocs.
The OK ticket is neither working for nor acting on behalf of the APC or any of its candidates. We see no possibility or reason to withdraw from the presidential race in favor of the ADC candidate or any other,
he clarified.
Critiquing the performance of the incumbent administration, Kwankwaso asserted that the APC-led government has failed to deliver economic stability and security to Nigerians, while maintaining that the ADC does not present a viable alternative.
Positioning the NDC as the primary opposition platform in the nation, Kwankwaso urged party faithful to stay focused on building momentum for transformative governance across critical sectors, including security, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and healthcare.
Nigeria will be OK,
Kwankwaso concluded, expressing confidence in the party’s capacity to unify and rebuild the nation.
