The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, on Thursday declared that his political party is positioned to secure an overwhelming victory in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Makinde made the assertion during an address at the APM South-West town hall meeting held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
During his address, the presidential candidate also declared that the current Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, will emerge as the next Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria following the 2027 polls.
Addressing the gathering of party faithful, Makinde responded to an earlier introduction of the Bauchi State governor by outlining the party’s legislative leadership projections.
When somebody was introducing our national leader (Mohammed) he said ‘the governor of Bauchi State and an incoming senator’,
Makinde stated.
Well, APM is going to win this election overwhelmingly because this is the reset agenda being put before Nigerians, so I dare to say that my national leader is the incoming Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
he added.
Urging party members across the region to mobilize for the presidential race, Makinde expressed confidence in the party’s standing within his home geopolitical zone.
If you like, listen and start working towards actualisation, we are in the South-West, my zone and we are here in Akure,
he noted.
Turning his attention to the qualifications for the nation’s highest office, the APM candidate emphasized physical stamina and mental agility over chronological age, challenging competing political entities to present candidates capable of handling executive demands.
While I will not make age an issue in this campaign, I will make energy, having energy, being able to stay up late to deal with the challenges we face as a country. So please when they bring their presidential candidates, let the candidates be able to jump and if they can do that vote for them,
Makinde stated.
