President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised Nigerians economic recovery, widespread prosperity, and sustained developmental progress as he officially launched his re-election campaign in Kaduna, soliciting another four-year mandate to consolidate his administration’s reform agenda.
Addressing party supporters at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off held at the Ranchers Bees Stadium on Saturday, October 24, President Tinubu strongly defended his economic policies, dismissed opposition criticisms concerning economic hardship, and urged citizens to back his candidate profile in the upcoming January 16, 2027 presidential election.
The President emphasized that his government is actively taking steps to eradicate hunger and poverty, asserting that opposition figures faulting his economic performance were responsible for the structural challenges facing the country.
We have prosperity, consistency, growth, recovery and opportunity. I assure you of that,
Tinubu declared to the crowd.
Reaffirming his stance on key national policies, the President ruled out any return to fuel subsidies while showcasing ongoing road and transport projects across the North-West as proof of delivery.
The commitments declared in Kaduna closely align with core pledges made during his initial 2023 presidential campaign. Below is the detailed breakdown of the seven main promises highlighted at the Kaduna campaign launch alongside their baseline context:
1. Economic Recovery and Sustained Prosperity
At the Kaduna rally, President Tinubu assured citizens of growth, economic recovery, and expanding opportunities, arguing that policy continuity is necessary to maintain the momentum of ongoing financial realignments. He urged voters to grant his administration another mandate, promising that supporters would not regret their vote.
2. Eradication of Hunger and Poverty
Responding to public concerns regarding food inflation and high living costs, President Tinubu placed the elimination of poverty at the center of his second-term campaign while attributing historical economic distress to previous governments.
I hear my opponents talking about hunger. Who created it? They did. They created hunger and poverty. We are trying to eradicate them,
he stated.
3. Permanent Phase-Out of Petrol Subsidy
The President reiterated that the fuel subsidy era is permanently over, framing its removal as a decisive structural break to prevent corruption and resource diversion.
What is past is past. Fuel subsidy is in our past. No more corruption, no more falsification of invoices, no more lies and no more smuggling,
he emphasized.
4. Regular Salary Payments and Improved Worker Welfare
Highlighting labor welfare, President Tinubu commended the administration’s record on public sector remuneration, maintaining that salaries continue to be disbursed consistently across federal organs while praising APC state governors for supporting worker welfare initiatives within their respective states.
We pay salaries regularly. Our governors are working, and I am proud of them. They are developing their states,
he noted.
5. Food Security and Agricultural Affordability
Reaffirming his commitment to agricultural development, the President emphasized plans to stabilize food production pipelines, address supply chain bottlenecks, and lower food prices nationwide.
6. Strategic Infrastructure Expansion
Underscoring his administration’s focus on national infrastructure networks, the campaign flag-off coincided with the commissioning of an 81-kilometre completed segment of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano dual carriageway, intended to enhance commercial transit across the northern region.
7. Youth Empowerment, Job Creation, and Digital Integration
Appealing directly to younger demographics, President Tinubu promised expanded economic access, employment pathways, and digital economy opportunities to support new entrants into the workforce and drive sustainable livelihoods.
