Violence erupted in Yankara town, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Saturday after suspected hoodlums ambushed supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), leaving several persons injured and a campaign vehicle set ablaze.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers intercepted APC supporters traveling to attend Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s 2027 reelection campaign rally in Faskari, obstructing movement along the strategic highway and triggering widespread panic among residents.
A witness who spoke via telephone alleged that angry youths blocked the campaign convoy’s designated route, claiming two APC supporters sustained critical injuries during the violent clash.
Detailing the experience, the Caucus Chairman of the Musa Adamu Network (MAN), Alhaji Nura Sule Yandaki, explained that he and 11 members of his executive team were en route to the governor’s rally when the attack unfolded.
According to Yandaki, tensions flared after members of a religious organization conducting a Maulud procession coincided with the political movement, allowing hoodlums to hijack the gathering and launch attacks on passing vehicles carrying political delegates.
The violence culminated in the setting ablaze of an official campaign bus belonging to the Musa Adamu Network by the assailants.
Condemning the incident, the Secretary of the Musa Adamu Network, Shamsuddeen Sani Lema, called on law enforcement agencies to launch an immediate investigation and prosecute all culprits involved.
Lema described the assault as unacceptable, emphasizing that democratic engagements must not be subjected to physical violence, intimidation, or thuggery.
Despite the security breach, Governor Dikko Radda proceeded with the official launch of the Tinubu-Dikko 2027 Campaign Rally in Faskari, where he enumerated his administration’s developmental footprints across security, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
The governor highlighted the fulfillment of his pledge to deliver critical health infrastructure to the council area following the formal commissioning of the Faskari General Hospital.
“During our previous campaign visit, we promised not to forget the hospital in Faskari. Today, by the grace of Almighty Allah, we have fulfilled that promise by opening the hospital for our people,” Radda said.
He noted that strategic state investments in road networks, school rehabilitations, public health, and security arrangements were progressively restoring commercial stability across rural communities.
Also addressing delegates, the Director-General of the Tinubu-Dikko 2027 Campaign Council, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, praised the turnout and urged party stakeholders, youth groups, and women leaders to sustain grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Similarly, Katsina State APC Chairman, Bishir Saulawa, assured party members that the campaign council would maintain a peaceful, issue-based campaign strategy focused strictly on developmental achievements.
