Although the students have regained their freedom, specific details about the rescue operation are still emerging.

The students were abducted last Thursday evening while traveling in a convoy of two buses en route to Enugu State.

They were passing through Otukpo Local Government area when they were ambushed by bandits.

Initially, their captors demanded a ransom of ₦50 million, and communication with the victims’ families was established shortly after the kidnapping.

The news of the students’ abduction hit the media last Friday, drawing significant public attention and condemnation of the rising rate of kidnappings in Nigeria.
