His invitation, related to an investigation into terrorism financing, sparked controversy, with the NLC and other labour unions accusing the Federal Government of trying to intimidate labour leaders.

Labour members gathered at the NLC headquarters in support of their president before his appearance. Police have questioned Ajaero regarding alleged involvement in terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony.

The NLC condemned the police’s actions and described the allegations as politically motivated attempts to silence organized labour.

They had earlier requested a postponement of Ajaero’s appearance, criticizing the short notice given.
