How Bandits Destroyed 4 Nigerian Military Trucks, Troops Aborted Mission In Zamfara

A video released on Saturday shows bandit leader Bello Turji and his fighters celebrating, looting ammunition, and then igniting the trucks.

Security sources revealed that the military had received intelligence about a bandit meeting led by Turji in a forest.

In response, troops deployed two MRAPs to ambush the terrorists.

However, the first two trucks got stuck in the mud, leading to the dispatch of two additional MRAPs for rescue and support.

“It is unfortunate that the second two trucks also stuck in the mud as they reached the muddy, waterlogged terrain. In that situation, coupled with poor visibility, they abandoned the trucks and returned back to base.

“It is sad that they only took their personal rifles and fled the scene. The ideal response to a situation of this nature is for the troops to destroy the trucks and all the arms before they left the scene but they failed to do that,” said the source.

Nigerian military is yet to speak on the incident.
