How Heavy Rainfall Destroyed Another Bridge In Yobe, Cut Off Nine LGAs From Capital (VIDEO)

Just three days after heavy rainfall severed the Potiskum-Gashua road in Yobe State, another bridge at Jumbam in the Bursari Local Government Area along the Damaturu-Dapchi federal road was also destroyed by over 12 hours of rainfall on Friday.

Previously, this road served as an alternative route connecting six local government areas in northern and eastern Yobe to Damaturu, the state capital.

The latest disruption now isolates nine local government areas—including Machina, Nguru, Karasuwa, Bade, Jakusko, and Yusufari in northern Yobe, and Geidam, Yunusari, and Bursari in eastern Yobe. Residents are now forced to rely on canoes or undertake a lengthy detour via Hadejia in Jigawa State, over 500 kilometers away.

The damage to these major federal roads has significantly disrupted economic and agricultural activities in the affected regions.
