Zulum Takes Decision On N70,000 Minimum Wage

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has approved the formation of a 12-member committee to oversee the implementation of the new N70,000 minimum wage.

The announcement was made by Bukar Tijani, the Secretary to the State Government, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Maiduguri.

According to the statement, the committee will be chaired by State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Babagana Mallumbe, with the Head of Service, Mallam Fannami, serving as Co-chairman.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Establishment, Sadiq Mohammed, has been appointed as the committee’s Secretary.

The committee is tasked with analyzing the federal-level salary adjustments and determining how these changes can be fully or partially implemented in Borno.

“To use the consequential adjustment at the federal level as a guide to arrive at a reasonable and sustainable salary adjustment based on the specific peculiarities of the state and;any other matter relevant to arriving at a reasonable and realistic salary for civil servants.” the statement said.

The committee also includes the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, the Accountant-General, the Auditor-General, as well as the Chairpersons of the NLC and TUC.
