The Department of State Services (DSS) has detained Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
According to the NLC, Ajaero was arrested on Monday at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja while en route to the United Kingdom for an official assignment.

Mr. Benson Upah, Head of Information for the NLC, confirmed the arrest to Channels Television.
Ajaero was scheduled to attend the Trade Union Congress conference in London, which starts today.
Upah noted that the union is unsure of Ajaero’s current location but received a message from him indicating that the DSS was responsible for his detention.
