Nigerian Army Reacts As Report Claims COAS Lagbaja Tendered Resignation Letter To Tinubu

The Nigerian Army has denied claims that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, has resigned.

An online report had alleged that Lagbaja had tendered his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu, stating that it came just 24 hours after he survived an assassination attempt.

The report further claimed that his resignation had caused confusion within the military leadership.

However, in response to an inquiry from *The Punch* on Monday, the Director of Army Public Relations, Maj Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, dismissed the report as fake news.

“It is fake news; please disregard it,” he simply said.
