The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Zamfara State has pledged to take disciplinary action and prosecute one of its officers, Maikano Sarkin-Tasha, who was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force for allegedly supplying ammunition and hard drugs to bandits in the region.

Sarkin-Tasha was apprehended and paraded by the police, accused of providing ammunition and narcotics to bandits operating around the Mada district in Gusau Local Government Area.

Speaking to the press at the NSCDC headquarters in Gusau, State Commandant Sani Mustapha condemned the officer’s alleged conduct. He noted that Sarkin-Tasha had previously been reported for neglecting his duties, but efforts to track him down had been unsuccessful.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Sarkin-Tasha was arrested at a checkpoint between Damba and Sabon Gida while en route to his hometown, Mada. During the arrest, authorities reportedly found cannabis and other illegal drugs in his possession. A search of his residence also uncovered three G3 rifle armours and one anti-aircraft gun armour, along with four rounds of ammunition.
