An attack on Saturday night in the hometown of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, led to the deaths of two people and the abduction of around 40 others.
The incident took place in Janboka, a community in the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, with residents reporting that most of the abducted individuals are women and children.
This latest attack occurred just a week after terrorists released 10 previously abducted individuals following the payment of a N10 million ransom, according to locals.

Ibrahim Haru, a resident, described how the attackers entered the community, shooting indiscriminately. He confirmed that after a headcount conducted on Sunday morning, around 40 people were found to be missing.
Haru identified the deceased as Malam Isah and a teenage boy, both killed while attempting to escape the attack. Despite the presence of local security personnel, the terrorists were able to carry out the assault.
He expressed concern over the increasing frequency of attacks in the Maradun area, which is the hometown of Mr. Matawalle, the immediate past governor of Zamfara State.
