BREAKING: Tinubu Takes Fresh Action On Justice Kekere-Ekun Position As Acting CJN

President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the 23rd substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria, following her Senate confirmation on September 25, 2024.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, where Kekere-Ekun took the oath of office and signed the oath register.

She succeeds Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who retired on August 22, 2024, after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.

The ceremony was attended by three of Kekere-Ekun’s predecessors, including Justice Aloma Mukhtar, the first female Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, Justice Walter Onnoghen, and her immediate predecessor, Justice Ariwoola. Members of Kekere-Ekun’s family and justices of the Supreme Court were also present.
