On Monday, blogger Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, appeared before a House of Representatives panel investigating bribery allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
Officials from both the EFCC and NCoS were also in attendance as the Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions began probing the corruption claims made by the blogger.
In a viral video, VeryDarkMan accused controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, of paying ₦15 million to the EFCC to drop money laundering charges related to his naira-spraying incident in April, after which a court sentenced Bobrisky to six months in prison.

The blogger further alleged that Bobrisky paid additional sums to secure preferential treatment while incarcerated.
Bobrisky has since denied these accusations, while the EFCC and the NCoS have both launched investigations into the claims.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called on the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, to conduct an independent investigation into the allegations raised by the blogger.
