Condition For Manchester City To Be Relegated Revealed

Manchester City faces a serious threat of relegation from the Premier League as a hearing into 115 alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations is scheduled to begin in early September.

The charges, which date back to 2009, have cast a cloud over the club, despite its significant success under Pep Guardiola, who has led City to 15 major trophies since his appointment in 2016.

The potential consequences for Manchester City are severe. According to journalist Martyn Ziegler, if the most serious charges are upheld, the club could face relegation or a substantial points deduction.

This case follows recent penalties imposed on other clubs, such as Everton and Nottingham Forest, who were docked points for similar, though less complex, breaches.

TeamTalk reports that the hearing is expected to last over 10 weeks, with a verdict anticipated in early January 2024.

In the meantime, City has initiated its own legal action against the Premier League regarding associated party transaction rules, with a hearing expected within the next fortnight.

Given the gravity of the situation, the odds of Manchester City being relegated this season have been reduced from 100/1 to 28/1.
