Notable attendees included Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, and Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, who has been recommended by the National Judicial Council to succeed Justice Ariwoola. The gathering also saw the presence of Justices from the Supreme and Appeal Courts.

Earlier in the day, a valedictory session was held in Justice Ariwoola’s honor at the Supreme Court.

During the session, he advocated for reforms to alleviate the caseload on the Supreme Court, pointing out that many cases should have been resolved at the appellate court level.

Justice Ariwoola highlighted how delays in justice are exacerbated by prolonged waiting times for litigants and lawyers, emphasizing that fair hearing can only be ensured if cases are resolved in a timely manner. He also called for an increase in the number of judicial officers to expedite the adjudication process.
