The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has ordered a thorough and unconditional investigation into allegations of bribery and corruption within the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Minister’s media aide, Babatunde Alao, conveyed Tunji-Ojo’s strong condemnation of the alleged misconduct.
The Minister stressed that any form of indiscipline, unprofessionalism, or corruption within the paramilitary services under the Ministry’s jurisdiction would be met with zero tolerance and strict penalties.

“The Ministry will not tolerate any compromise on its core values of integrity, transparency, and accountability. We will leave no stone unturned in rooting out corruption and ensuring that those found culpable face the full wrath of the law,” Tunji-Ojo said.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reportedly called for the formation of a special investigative team, led by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, to thoroughly probe allegations of bribery and corruption within the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) and submit a comprehensive report.
Tunji-Ojo reassured the public that the investigation would be rigorous, transparent, and impartial, with appropriate disciplinary measures for any personnel found guilty of misconduct.
This investigation was initiated following bribery allegations made by Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, in a video released by blogger Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, accusing a top official of the NCoS.
In the viral video, Bobrisky also claimed to have paid ₦15 million in bribes to officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop money laundering charges against him.
In response, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had assembled a team to investigate the claims.
Bobrisky, who had spent six months in Kirikiri Correctional Centre, was released on August 5. He had been sentenced without the option of a fine by a Federal High Court in Lagos in April after pleading guilty to a naira abuse charge filed by the EFCC.
