Thousands Of Ganduje’s Kinsmen Dump APC For NNPP In Kano

No fewer than 1,331 members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State defected to the ruling New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) on Thursday.

The defectors, primarily from 11 wards in the area, expressed their commitment to opposing the APC’s return as the ruling party in Kano State.

Notable among the former APC members were Malam Kwa, the former Vice Chairman of the local government area, and Hon. Audu Tumfafi, a former state House of Assembly aspirant.

During the reception for the new members in Dawakin Tofa, the State Chairman of NNPP, Hashimu Dungurawa, praised their decision to join the party.

Dungurawa emphasized that under the leadership of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the NNPP is dedicated to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of Kano State.

He assured the newcomers of equal opportunities within the party and refuted rumors of mass defections from NNPP to APC, asserting that the NNPP remains firmly in control of its structure across the state’s wards.

“We learnt one APC man has been receiving members of NNPP into APC. We have checked the roll call of our members and we have not noticed any reduction in our numerical strength.

“I need to advise them to beware of 419 people coming to collect the public funds in the name of decampees,” Mr Dungurawa said.

Earlier, Kwa accused former governor Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, a native of the area, of neglecting its development during his eight years in office.

Kwa also claimed that Ganduje poorly managed the party, which contributed to the ex-governor’s inability to secure a House of Representatives seat in the 2023 general election.
