President Bola Tinubu has submitted the names of seven inaugural members for the Governing Board of the North West Development Commission to the Senate for confirmation.
The announcement was made on Saturday in a statement signed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, titled “President Tinubu Appoints the Governing Board of the North West Development Commission.”
This follows President Tinubu’s signing of the North West Development Commission Bill into law on July 24, marking a significant step in the Commission’s establishment.

Haruna Ginsau from Jigawa has been nominated as Chairman, while Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji from Kano has been nominated as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.

Other members include Dr. Yahaya Namahe (Sokoto), Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi), Tijani Kaura (Zamfara), Abdulkadir Usman (Kaduna), Muhammad Wudil (Kano), Shamsu Sule (Katsina), and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa).
Onanuga stated that the nominated board members are expected to leverage their extensive experience and expertise to fulfill the Commission’s mandate of developing the North West region.
He emphasized that the NWDC will focus on promoting significant growth, economic empowerment, and social development in the area.
The President reiterated his strong commitment to supporting the NWDC’s mission to achieve sustainable development in the North West.
