Mohamed Salah’s penalty secured Liverpool’s return to the top of the Premier League as they defeated winless Wolves.
Salah’s second-half spot kick restored Liverpool’s lead after Rayan Ait-Nouri had equalized for Wolves, following Ibrahima Konaté’s first Premier League goal that gave the visitors an early advantage at Molineux.
Arne Slot’s side capitalized on Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle to reclaim top spot, edging ahead of Arsenal with a hard-fought win.

Meanwhile, Wolves remain at the bottom of the table.
Wolves began brightly, but their early enthusiasm was tempered by some defensive uncertainty.
Despite their struggles this season to turn positive performances into victories, they had a promising start, with Alisson comfortably saving Matheus Cunha’s attempt.
Liverpool gradually gained control and nearly went ahead five minutes before halftime.

Virgil van Dijk set up Diogo Jota, who delivered a low cross to Dominik Szoboszlai, only for Wolves’ goalkeeper Sam Johnstone to pull off a sprawling save.
However, Liverpool broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time when Jota skipped past Jorgen Strand Larsen and crossed to Konaté, who outjumped Toti Gomes to power home a header, though Johnstone could have done better.
Salah missed a chance to double Liverpool’s lead early in the second half, firing wide of an open goal after a poor pass from Mario Lemina.
Wolves then equalized in the 56th minute, with Ait-Nouri finishing from close range after Carlos Forbs’ mis-hit shot, which followed Larsen dispossessing a sluggish Konaté.
The parity lasted just five minutes, as Nelson Semedo fouled Jota in the box, and Salah calmly converted the penalty to secure the win for Liverpool.
