On Monday, popular blogger Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, appeared before a House of Representatives panel investigating bribery allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

Officials from both the EFCC and NCoS were also present as the Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions launched an investigation into the accusations of bribery and corruption made by the blogger.

In a viral video, VeryDarkMan alleged that controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, paid ₦15 million to the EFCC to drop money laundering charges related to his naira-spraying incident in April, after which a court sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment.

The blogger further claimed that Bobrisky paid additional money to secure preferential treatment while in prison.

Bobrisky has denied the accusations, and both the EFCC and NCoS have initiated investigations into the claims made by VeryDarkMan.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called on the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to conduct an independent investigation into the blogger’s allegations.
