On Tuesday, thugs took over the protest ground previously used during the August #EndBadGovernance demonstration in Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The location had been announced as the convergence point for the “FearlessInOctober” protest, aimed at addressing the economic challenges facing the country.

However, cane-wielding hoodlums occupied the site, declaring that no protests would take place in Rivers State.

The thugs also threatened to beat up any journalist attempting to film them.
Similar protests are occurring in other parts of Nigeria, including Lagos and Abuja, as the country marks its 64th Independence Day Anniversary.

Demonstrators are calling on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to reverse the removal of the petrol subsidy and the unification of foreign exchange rates, policies they say are driving inflation and the rising cost of living.
